But as you can see my house a zoo. I will be documenting my life over the next year for a number of reasons but mostly for fun.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.comBlogger54125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-81214181235795747452014-05-12T10:06:00.000-05:002014-05-12T10:06:31.517-05:00On and OffFriday was even better. I was able to make it to the C25K group run. We ran part of the actual course for the upcoming <a href="http://fergtwilightrun.com/wp/">Ferguson Twilight 5K</a>. There is a big hill that I have been dreading but I have a number of big hills on my home based course so I knew I could conquer it. Once again the Galloway method came through for me. Not only did I get up the hill. I passed 3 runners and recorded a new PR of 11:44 min/mile split. I felt strong and was able to finish with no problem.<br />
Sunday on the other hand was a different story. It was hot 86 degrees, humid, and just all round not a great day. I was so tired I even took 2 naps throughout the day, this is very unusual for me. My feet and legs are sun burnt from Florica's soccer game yesterday. My hip and shins were hurting. Although I enjoyed having the kids over for Mother's day I was just not in the mood to cook and apparently no one else wanted to either even though they all wanted to eat. I ended up eating left over pizza before trying to run, probably should have waited until after the run. I knew I was running slow but I was ok with that and my shins loosened up nicely within half a mile. However, when I reached what should have been the 1 mile mark I noticed that my mapmyrun app was on pause, argh. Everything was starting to hurt (my shoulder, breasts, hip, and back) were all saying enough I was so hot I am sure my face was red as a beat. I decided then that I needed to cut my course short and turn it into a brisk comfortable walk.<br />
Florica has a number of games this week making it difficult for me to meet up with the group until Wednesday. The weather is changing which I am hoping is why my hip hurts. I just started "running" in March and have found the experience invigorating. I look forward to each run and miss it on my off days. Yesterday was a big disappointment for me. I am hoping I feel better tonight so that I can get a run on the treadmill. Next week will be the next step in my running endeavor as I start training with Big River Summer Speedwork in preparation for my Firecracker 10K on July 4th.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-85385814284703118832014-05-07T20:44:00.000-05:002014-05-07T20:44:23.326-05:00Florica has had a soccer tournament this week making it difficult for me to run with my C25K group. I am supposed to run 2.75 miles on Monday and Wednesday. On Monday I was able to run before her game. On Monday I covered 2.78 miles at a split pace of 12:29 min/mile and on Wednesday 2.94 miles at 11:55 min/mile. Both were new PR for me. I tried to get in as many hills as possible in prep for the Ferguson Twilight 5K. Hopefully, I will be able to make the group run on Friday as there are only 3 runs left before our race. I really like the Galloway method of run/walk and am currently pursuing some other running groups to prepare for the Cowbell Half Marathon in October.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-46185040943350792332014-05-01T14:09:00.000-05:002014-05-01T14:10:55.841-05:00Welcome Back, What's New.Wow it has been almost 2 years since I have even thought about this blog. So much has happened I am not sure where to start. I finally finished my degree as of May 2013 I am a SLU graduate with a BA in General Studies. I thought about taking off a year or two but then panic set in and I signed up for my Master's in Developmental Organization. Ugh, after 2 classes I realized this is not for me. I was lucky enough to realize early that I needed to look into something else. I enjoy my career in Healthcare and realized the options in the Allied Health Department would be a better fit. I was able to switch in January and am starting to work on my Master of Health Informatics. Two classes down.<br />
Brad has been out of the house for almost 3 years now, you cannot believe how proud I am of him and how well he has done in life. He now has a new roommate.<br />

Florica is a senior in high school. We have been busy trying to plan her future... as of right now she will start vocational rehab next year working in a retirement home with the Special School District. Florica knew softball was not her sport and after spending the summer playing tennis with Special Olympics she joined the Ritenour Tennis Team this year. In the spring, she has once again made the Ritenour soccer team on the varsity level. Practice and games as well as Special Olympics basketball, bowling, tennis, volleyball, and softball have kept her busy. </div>

Doug bought the remaining assets of King's Automotive and opened his own business: A-King Automotive, LLC. We have had some ups and downs but it seems to be on the right track now and building into a success. </div>

I on the other hand had a health scare when I was diagnosed in Aug 2013 with diabetes. I went through all the stages of denial, grief, anger, and acceptance. I refused to allow a disease take over my life and made the decision to take control. This brings me to my current obsession with running. I have been jealous for some time now of my friends and family when they post pictures and results of 5K's, mudders, and color runs. I wish I could run but there is no way. Even when I was at my healthiest I could not run. Anyway I did everything the doctor asked of me. Meet with the pharmacist to discuss when and how to track my sugar and taking my medication correctly. The dietitian looked at my log and gave me a few pointers but could find no big problems with my diet. I bought a fitbit and determined my biggest problem had to be lack of exercise. I started to force myself to walk on my breaks everyday, with or without my walking partner. But I still longed for a better plan, I could not afford a gym membership but we had a new treadmill at home we had bought a couple of years ago. My first time trying to run on it I could not even run through a 30 second commercial, boy did I have my work cut out for me. Every time I saw a posting about a 5K run I would dream that some day I could participate. Then it happened..... I found out they have a 5K run on Castaway Cay and at Disney World. How did I not know about this sooner. Well I had a new goal, we are going to be on Castaway Cay in November and it can be walked, I knew I could walk about a 15 min/mile. Then I found a program called C25K. I downloaded the app and started to run. When I started to search for a local 5K as a prep I found the Ferguson Twilight 5K run/walk. Once again "walk" popped out at me. Hey I know I can walk a 5K. Then I found a C25K free running group in Ferguson, ok the word "free" got my attention and my competitive nature took over. I joined the group and we are now on Week 7. The only problem is I still cannot run for long without wearing down. That's when I started to look seriously at runDisney trainer Jeff Galloway's run/walk method. The idea is that walk breaks help keep your legs fresh so you remain strong all the way to the end. This week our C25K instructions are to run 2.25 miles....um I cannot run that long without a break so I decided to try the run/walk method with a 30:30 interval. I cut my average mile/min time by .84 seconds. I felt strong and was able to finish. My training continues and my first 5K is set for May 17, 2014. Hopefully I will be able to keep it up and complete a few more runs including some Disney 1/2 marathons in 2015. Not to mention I am having fun coming up with ideas for running costumes.</div>

I finished my classes for the year in May. I have continued to try to free my home of clutter and move to a minimalist sustainable future. On April 28 we were hit by a hail storm that has completely turned my world upside down. I have spent most of May and June dealing with a contractor and subcontractors who need to be baby sat every step of the way. We are still waiting for a resolution to the crooked unsealed roof. Guess we are lucky we have not had rain since the beginning of June.<br />

The leaky ceiling and numerous cracks are gone. Since the room is mostly cleared of furniture we decided now is as good a time as any to put the new floor we bought about 10 years ago down. The rest of the furniture will be moved out (Not sure where to go with it yet) and new floating wood floor to go in.</div>

I had to take a break on the cupcakes as we were getting sick of them. But I have a request for this weekend and will once again be scouring my favorite recipes for something new.</div>

If anyone has any ideas on a better placement or organizational idea I would love to hear it.</div><p>"Get yourself a limiting container so you know when enough is enough" Laura, Organizing Junkie<img border="0" height="240" src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1329180590756/home/week-7/Purge%20week%201%20and%202.JPG?height=240&width=320" width="320" style="padding-top: 7px; padding-right: 7px; padding-bottom: 7px; padding-left: 7px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-bottom-width: 1px; border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-color: rgb(195, 201, 162); border-right-width: 1px; border-right-style: solid; border-right-color: rgb(195, 201, 162); border-style: initial; border-color: initial; " /></p></div></div></div></div></td></tr></tbody></table></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-28566869878368205742012-02-10T08:40:00.002-06:002012-02-10T08:50:29.511-06:00<b><span style="font-size:6;"><div style="text-align: center; display: block;"><a href="http://orgjunkie.com/2012/02/org-junkies-29-day-organizational-challenge-begins-sponsors.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-6-29-day-challenge-follow-up/OrgChallenge-125x125.png" border="0" /></a></div>29 Day Challenge Follow Up</span></b><br /><div><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><b>I started with Laura's <a href="http://orgjunkie.com/2007/06/how-to-get-organized-follow-these-process-steps.html" target="_blank">PROCESS</a> steps:</b></span></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 25px;"><div style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color:#ff0000;">P</span>lan of attack: </span><b><div style="display: inline ! important;"><span style="font-size:85%;">Plan your project before </span></div></b><b><div style="display: inline ! important;"><span style="font-size:85%;">you start.</span><span style="font-size:100%;"> </span></div></b></div><div style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color:#ff0000;">R</span>emove items: </span><span style="font-size:85%;"><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">Empty the space completely </div></b><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">so you can start from a </div></b></span><b><div style="display: inline ! important;"><span style="font-size:85%;">clean slate. </span><span style="font-size:100%;"> </span></div></b></div><div style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color:#ff0000;">O</span>rganize into piles: </span><span style="font-size:85%;"><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">One each to donate/toss/</div></b><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">sell/keep/relocate. </div></b><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">Sort like with like.</div></b></span></div><div style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color:#ff0000;">C</span>ontainerize: </span><span style="font-size:85%;"><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">Containers and other </div></b><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">storage solutions establish </div></b></span><b><div style="display: inline ! important;"><span style="font-size:85%;">limits and boundaries.</span><span style="font-size:100%;"> </span></div></b></div><div style="font-weight: bold;"><b style="font-size: medium;"><div style="display: inline ! important;"><span style="color:#ff0000;">E</span>valuate your plan: </div></b><span style="font-size:85%;"><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">How is your system </div></b><b><div style="display: inline ! important;">working for you? If I haven't read them by now I doubt that I will, besides the information is 2 years old already. Out they went. Tax papers and medical bills were also included those were relocated to my desk to be sorted later. Back in the 90's when they were supposed to be cool, I bought one of the round bed side tables with a glass top. Normally, it should have a cloth matching the bedding but I think I took it off a few years ago to wash it and never put it back. It never really fit beside my bed because it was so big, I could not even open the first two drawers under the bed fully. However, I have a very nice "telephone stand" that belonged to my Grandmother that I love and it fits perfectly. I switched them out and added storage drawers to keep the dogs from getting into my treasures and medication.<br /></span><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold; font-size: medium;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-6-29-day-challenge-follow-up/B%20Magazines%20and%20Table.jpg?height=320&width=315" style="background-color: rgb(233, 236, 207);" border="0" height="320" width="315" /></span></span><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-6-29-day-challenge-follow-up/B%20Magazines%20%26%20Table%20after.JPG?height=320&width=240" border="0" height="320" width="240" /></div><div style="text-align: left; font-size: medium;">I used to have a shelf system against the wall at the end of the bed, however my son needed it for a while, eventually it ended up in another room. Here are the before pictures. I am embarrassed to post these but it always seems to look worse in pictures so maybe it will help me get motivated. I will have to start on the floor cleaning up enough to be able to get to the dresser and closet before the end of the month.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkp5OFIwE4NWQlayMW0XRBjaQBi7cMuHZI3vKz0r1gTKdpLPKHMMhap989wtM-cctD-TPstHNFntR6S-cPZUjyNToFwxVc8L7ZVPANrmGO4RmSyuAefab3_qC5eqOm5dmaqKpCRCbeo2s/s1600/DSC04624.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkp5OFIwE4NWQlayMW0XRBjaQBi7cMuHZI3vKz0r1gTKdpLPKHMMhap989wtM-cctD-TPstHNFntR6S-cPZUjyNToFwxVc8L7ZVPANrmGO4RmSyuAefab3_qC5eqOm5dmaqKpCRCbeo2s/s200/DSC04624.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704557480651709474" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRaa4ZgODoIis6x0So6mt_GS45cvnh12bEBAW3RYisyeKx9fXiAtIQJBybXa7oYU6adEwqCYq5OkC63qmVN6T3KRRgWHLoj8dfcDstDgvXEcU_9xjXhcXwReKots_mOjXc2zfVd1_P30g/s1600/Bed+Room+1.jpg"><br /></a>Closet<br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW_ZL02A05PwnejEEsarzx7Ubo_w4tn98eSSeq-4a5c3dlTxOkenMhgfFhh9sLzN3J4UKNp1kF0z5vORE7844ncmOEBKUWDcKskkMpzmuvB4Foq8e9aoOrC9ay5LpZ4KjGOC7F9JOpSxQ/s1600/DSC04623.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW_ZL02A05PwnejEEsarzx7Ubo_w4tn98eSSeq-4a5c3dlTxOkenMhgfFhh9sLzN3J4UKNp1kF0z5vORE7844ncmOEBKUWDcKskkMpzmuvB4Foq8e9aoOrC9ay5LpZ4KjGOC7F9JOpSxQ/s200/DSC04623.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704558153640813186" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEAl1ndAeKiFpu5Z6lPF0HWAK6gzFyVNppeVx75UtHlW56vPWfeXoAcwTY5AuM2KGcKtmYexfuf3KuupIbzUs1VH_VsdVx08myWgrQcSTr-tGpecfm-pC8fKFtXa39UWBazx40ZEmDHnw/s1600/DSC04623.JPG"><br /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidspjuGrI5mch2u_kJM42xmiCD6XcP5q4PBA7PNV1A7FKSWJpAFjc1lRafNrbmRe6gDg_fdx7V2zDPojHnHI42Ypyv4AQsYL0508NHdeRyQBM_F22ThqduorMtUmf8bvrTzJodgG9K7EU/s1600/DSC04623.JPG">Dresser</a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgROqZIJmErv-Xd0-r0roLEq7C6GBMGaIyQkXfxRGWoK2Iibe8sMpH2dFyyxv9wulegiyHY8mYz44wEBlSxDossuieCDq2A5ujN4zzhGegWuIECaHbBmiXCmAjs0OZkQao8UCb4qUDy7IU/s1600/DSC04625.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgROqZIJmErv-Xd0-r0roLEq7C6GBMGaIyQkXfxRGWoK2Iibe8sMpH2dFyyxv9wulegiyHY8mYz44wEBlSxDossuieCDq2A5ujN4zzhGegWuIECaHbBmiXCmAjs0OZkQao8UCb4qUDy7IU/s200/DSC04625.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704557484073821778" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6AaCQz91a-9atrDo__OfKJCzS8fsj6zVbJW7YdqdVCzhlumsryOajXBmyKqMaJh6rMgeyUqXegh2MXmGj5zGBbWgPSZ04G3l_DXJRno6JA_nqZ3-ueW7YmHZZXZWZQRlNasQRgMwOGs0/s1600/Bed+Room+3.jpg">TV stand</a><br /></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-40905540161657972792012-01-31T14:57:00.003-06:002012-01-31T15:06:24.049-06:00Feb - Daily Challange<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLAK5GbWVgnqMSQZnBmIdrzrerO8bib6AM03DCbzQFxPdsHYWyuzkirsn4h3dSjHt8-kxUagnQHlps0cwVm408adKB3ldxM3JSZ-3hixaX8p0Hc5nnSKBJMsGlPKTyItbMrq15oMU7Go0/s1600/OrgChallenge-125x125.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 125px; height: 125px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLAK5GbWVgnqMSQZnBmIdrzrerO8bib6AM03DCbzQFxPdsHYWyuzkirsn4h3dSjHt8-kxUagnQHlps0cwVm408adKB3ldxM3JSZ-3hixaX8p0Hc5nnSKBJMsGlPKTyItbMrq15oMU7Go0/s200/OrgChallenge-125x125.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5703903715113278114" border="0" /></a>This is the website that inspired me to "clean up" my life for good. I have gotten off to a great start but one area certainly lacking a fresh start has been my bedroom. It has become the place where I hide all the junk I clean up but don't want to part with yet. Truthfully it has become a small pathway around my bed with the walls and floor closing in on me. It is time for a small diversion 15 minutes at a time for one short month to bring peace, harmony, and health back to my bedroom.<br /><br /><img src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/gaultsm/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.png" alt="" /><img src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/gaultsm/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.png" alt="" /><img src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/gaultsm/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-2.png" alt="" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-89515869742804144802012-01-27T19:07:00.003-06:002012-01-27T19:07:37.275-06:00Week 04<span style="color: rgb(105, 115, 53); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 21px; background-color: rgb(233, 236, 207); ">I am still attempting to finish last week's closet organization. I have a pile of recycle still sitting, a number of old phones to drop off at the police station, and a box of light bulbs to relocate among other various odds and ends. I also have a number of coffee cups from dish sets. We use the dishes but I don't think we ever used the cups, likewise, I doubt we ever will, those will be packed and wrapped for the next donation pick up. School began last week and I am taking 2 classes for the next 8 weeks leaving little time for anything much less organizing. While cooking eggs for breakfast one morning I started to quickly sift through the cabinet over the stove. No time for a before picture. But here is the after:</span><div style="color: rgb(105, 115, 53); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 21px; background-color: rgb(233, 236, 207); "><div><a href="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-4/DSC04589.JPG?attredirects=0" imageanchor="1" style="color: rgb(204, 51, 255); text-decoration: none; border-bottom-width: initial; border-bottom-style: none; border-bottom-color: initial; background-image: none; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; "><img border="0" height="240" src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1326417305539/home/week-4/DSC04589.JPG?height=240&width=320" width="320" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; border-image: initial; padding-top: 7px; padding-right: 7px; padding-bottom: 7px; padding-left: 7px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-color: rgb(195, 201, 162); border-right-style: solid; border-right-color: rgb(195, 201, 162); " /></a></div>I added the adjustable wire shelf. Before, everything was stacked on top of each other making opening the doors a hazard from falling food. It turned out to be a great time to tackle this area because I found bugs in the whole wheat pasta. Even they are eating healthy these days. Five or Six boxes of pasta went into the trash and all new boxes will be placed in plastic bags or sealed glass containers immediately.</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-65587990977062270582012-01-17T11:40:00.001-06:002012-01-18T10:45:42.259-06:00Week 03Watch out Belle there may be an avalanche. That closet is stacked up to the point it is dangerous. You cannot tell by this picture but there is a 38" x 19" floor in there. The closet is over the basement stairwell, therefore it gets increasingly deeper with each shelf. The middle shelf is 2.5 feet deep and the top one is just over 3 feet deep.<div dir="ltr"><div style="display: block; text-align: left;"><div style="display: block; text-align: left;"><div style="display: block; text-align: left;"><div style="display: block; text-align: left;"><div style="display: inline ! important;"><a href="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-3/DSC04555.JPG?attredirects=0"><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325896521019/home/week-3/DSC04555.JPG?height=320&width=240" border="0" height="320" width="240" /></a></div></div><div style="display: block; text-align: left;">We had most of the plastic containers in the closet but could never find a lid no matter how hard I tried to keep them together. It is all now matched and neatly stacked in the closet thanks to Florica.</div><a href="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-3/Organizing%20Plastic%20Containers.JPG?attredirects=0"><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325896543094/home/week-3/Organizing%20Plastic%20Containers.JPG?height=240&width=320" border="0" height="240" width="320" /></a><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325896555514/home/week-3/An%20empty%20drawer.JPG?height=150&width=200" border="0" height="150" width="200" /></div><br /></div><div style="display: block; text-align: left;">I can even step into the closet. I realized I had way to many paper plates so we will be bringing a number of those down to the camper we keep in the country for weekend getaways. Those pink tubs are full of plates and cups. Paper bowls are stacked up on the center shelf and more packages of plates are on top of a new wire shelf I had purchased years ago but could not get DH to hang. The brace can be seen in the upper right hand corner. I now have some place to hang my guest's coats.</div><a href="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-3/Hall%20Closet%20After.JPG?attredirects=0"><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325896573187/home/week-3/Hall%20Closet%20After.JPG?height=320&width=240" border="0" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>Classes begin this week and I have chosen 2 classes this quarter. She just moved into her brother's old room in Aug when he moved out. One would think her room would not need purging or organizing in such a short time but it did. Here is the before. First was her dresser. The book shelf was a mess and vertical space was not used effectively.<div style="display: block; text-align: left;"><div style="display: block; text-align: left;"><a href="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-2/Flori%20dresser%20before.JPG?attredirects=0"><img alt="Dresser before" src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325787537796/home/week-2/Flori%20dresser%20before.JPG?height=200&width=150" border="0" height="200" width="150" /></a> <a href="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/home/week-2/Flori%20Closet%20before.JPG?attredirects=0"><div style="display: inline ! important;"><img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325787537796/home/week-2/Flori%20Dresser%20After.JPG?height=200&width=150" border="0" height="200" width="150" /></div></a></div><div style="display: block; text-align: left;">The second area was her closet. We had run out of boxes and nothing was where it was supposed to be, shirts mixed with shorts, long sleeve and camis all together...</div><img alt="Closet Before" src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325787537796/home/week-2/Flori%20Closet%20before.JPG?height=150&width=200" border="0" height="150" width="200" /> <img src="https://sites.google.com/site/extremesoccermom/_/rsrc/1325787537796/home/week-2/Flori%20Closet%20After.JPG?height=150&width=200" style="" border="0" height="150" width="200" /></div><div style="display: block; text-align: left;">After a complete purging of her clothes we have 2 boxes of give-aways. Then during a quick run to Walmart for organizational supplies we found these great pink sterilite boxes on clearance for $3.00. We bought all they had (16). I would have liked to have gotten clear boxes to make it easier to determine what was inside but for the price I went with the pink and they match her black and pink room. Once I find my label maker I will be able to label all the boxes for easier identification.</div><div style="display: block; text-align: left;">It is much easier now for her to find what she wants and as a bonus she personally cleaned up her desk before I could even get pictures. I had planed to tackle that area my next round in her room. Hopefully she can keep this up for a while.</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-72157421376567521332011-12-30T19:54:00.006-06:002012-01-02T21:35:42.041-06:00Out with the Old.Week 1. As is evident by the past year's worth of blog I didn't keep up very well. I am resolving this year a number of things.<br /><div><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692137343394975650" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2QJ8M-m0wR6JUNUsHCAuqG31EXS0h46kfBTFp_xQRYAGD6BS2nwun8hy8_w83EAYNRQUJwRSTIg3AUvLG-G_f1eGvLAWUUCczc3iNna6Jixi0nDbmHEL0vBaaPT3vWiVUqGkzdpk4lWc/s200/Entry+Way+Before.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 200px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 0px; width: 150px;" /><br /><div>1. continue classes at the university. (I am determined to finish my degree this time around I have one more year to go therefore, this will remain number one until I am finished.) I have a straight A average at this time and joined the Golden Key</div><div>International Honor Society this past year.</div><div><br /></div><div>2.<a href="http://networkedblogs.com/sadzi"> 52 weeks of Organization</a>. I found a blog toward the end of the year which helps encourage those of us domestically challenged to take it slow and steady. Picking one area a week makes it seem like a doable task. After spending the last month decluttering while preparing for the holidays I really like the simpler lifestyle along with being able to see the top of my tables and counters. I will keep this up and hopefully report each week. With any luck I will have my car in the garage by the end of the year. I started a little early since I was off work the last couple of days. I started in Flori's room but have not finished because we ran out of boxes and I believe we could use an extend-a-shelf which I have ordered. I moved to a smaller area to help me feel like I accomplished something. I was able to purge and even have empty spaces now.</div></div><div><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692137455738139682" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgClxXuwQ6sOOTyoXHMWmIjf-is7pyyH9HMJWq6b4_wCJQmYc246RtpqPWerj5-LygoOmAAYBdfyV5rhUfaqeR9XyNtoEq5Fd6CiMV-Aaz6nZWg9vxgQ0X8fQS_CZ1ISZwMNF5JllsQn14/s200/Entry+Way+After.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 200px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 0px; width: 150px;" /></div><div><br /></div><div>3. This brings me to my last resolution to blog about my accomplishments and set backs throughout the year in an effort to learn and grow from them. My garden was a complete failure last year due to the heat and rats. I tried, to no avail, to produce a hardy crop of anything. With any luck I will be able to report a better outcome this year.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-2546755705456204192011-04-25T18:20:00.000-05:002011-04-25T18:20:18.345-05:00Raising Meat Rabbits<a href="http://www.naturalrabbitfood.com/raising-meat-rabbits/">Raising Meat Rabbits</a><div>Trying to decided if I want to make meat rabbits a part of my sustainable lifestyle. We enjoyed coffee made fresh one cup at a time along with Vanilla Carmel and Hazelnut Coffee-mate. It was a treat for the entire office and hopefully I have converted a few new coffee drinkers to the time and money saving tricks for a delicious cup of coffee.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-2479737602519462112010-12-21T21:22:00.002-06:002010-12-21T21:26:41.231-06:00Busy year past and yet to comeThe garden did very well until the middle of the summer when it just got too hot for far to long. The tomatoes lost their blossoms and the peppers never grew much less flower. The corn, green beans and squash did OK but not great. I am willing to try again this year and plans are already in the works for next years planting. Some seeds have been purchased and others saved from last years successes.<br />School continues to go well for myself and both kids. We are enjoying learning new things and I hope to continue to implement new ideas for saving and sharing.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2738007285167698928.post-62274505723707985902010-06-25T16:56:00.004-05:002010-06-25T18:57:36.144-05:00One month later the garden is comming along nicely:<br />Before I left on vacation I planted some "surprise" melons. I am not sure what they are since they were actually growing in with the thyme I bought at HD. A couple more tomato plants and the rest were seeds. I asked DH to water them if we did not have rain at least every 3rd day. Unfortunately, he did not do it. The lima beans, cilantro, 2 red peppers, and carrots are all that came up. I replanted with some spinach, lettuce, radishes, hot peppers and green onions in hopes of a late round.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOiEc3R4BctSrwb7yScyXxMeQR0fOZV1HSEML2ONqhfnr5hlcGuhnaw8Dr0MKw1I2badYmpGpXSgg-rO6Vx_-iGC96OEePPym839iaNDccuO1CnY2TO9GnJrnLNAUrUhiIFQDF8sl6tKs/s1600/DSC03915.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486856887815781938" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOiEc3R4BctSrwb7yScyXxMeQR0fOZV1HSEML2ONqhfnr5hlcGuhnaw8Dr0MKw1I2badYmpGpXSgg-rO6Vx_-iGC96OEePPym839iaNDccuO1CnY2TO9GnJrnLNAUrUhiIFQDF8sl6tKs/s200/DSC03915.JPG" /></a> This is one of the old beds which contains tomatoes from my dad, watermelon, cantaloupe, and celery. I planted the last of the eggplant seeds since they have not come up in any of the other beds yet and yellow wax beans I got on clearance.<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtPFmFcgFk0wyKLJoyyRQTy_nMoRAZntBuy6iZOOce6JXVIhTNa7RpnzK3knIYdmwgjVQZ9Lj9vUvQfS84DOKqdr7DF3r4_6Nn22NDca5_8XhyPEFw5UBUyqfIqKQInCNpit5uA-Puk7U/s1600/DSC03914.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486856878945451714" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtPFmFcgFk0wyKLJoyyRQTy_nMoRAZntBuy6iZOOce6JXVIhTNa7RpnzK3knIYdmwgjVQZ9Lj9vUvQfS84DOKqdr7DF3r4_6Nn22NDca5_8XhyPEFw5UBUyqfIqKQInCNpit5uA-Puk7U/s200/DSC03914.JPG" /></a><br />The lettuce is just about done. I will let at least one of each kind go to seed in hopes of starting them myself next year. The bush beans are both lima and green beans and are doing well. The pole beans however have been attacked by the Japanese Bettles. I also have one tomato and 6 zucchini planted among the lettuce.<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixahipdIu5adXtct03hw1fIk1dRXJ0Vd713VOiVs5qF9RC2od1_By-YwlVfePxW7ULgeNHzIdc_T43Qt6xF2HLATAV4VQABcuyFBFaulbB8UPEXxx1wZ7hIsDqv5y6vdTEAB0nvOL6T3o/s1600/DSC03913.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486836276381571090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixahipdIu5adXtct03hw1fIk1dRXJ0Vd713VOiVs5qF9RC2od1_By-YwlVfePxW7ULgeNHzIdc_T43Qt6xF2HLATAV4VQABcuyFBFaulbB8UPEXxx1wZ7hIsDqv5y6vdTEAB0nvOL6T3o/s200/DSC03913.JPG" /></a><br /><br />The corn in the self-watering bin started out great but has slowed down. Probably to wet, I am considering removeing the plastic to allow for more evaporation. In the tire is 3 more tomatoes from Dad. When we left June 16, 2010 the biggest were about knee how. They are now waist high on June 25, 2010. I read about a 3 sisters garden like the Indians planted. Before we left I added 2-3 pole beans around each corn stalk and 2 zucchini in the spaces. I also have 2 new blueberry bushes here which I hope will force me to move this garden next year.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVHeAem7hkJOsEi_wBmo-km-qvXHLvUozeBYoqQ-LzhB4NbPjos7CjurL53fd-uqnGAlR4MWm71v4A33g7Ia2Yuo4WfODk6eqPKXiarRBPcAUlfqtRUNEQZo7h-4cEIEQVI7IRQY6y5_s/s1600/DSC03911.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486836248802056610" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVHeAem7hkJOsEi_wBmo-km-qvXHLvUozeBYoqQ-LzhB4NbPjos7CjurL53fd-uqnGAlR4MWm71v4A33g7Ia2Yuo4WfODk6eqPKXiarRBPcAUlfqtRUNEQZo7h-4cEIEQVI7IRQY6y5_s/s200/DSC03911.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br />There are 2 tomatoes in the green self-watering container and one in the barrel. So many things have happened. I decided when I turned 45 to make this the year of me. I spent the last 20 being wife and mother and not doing anything for myself. I decided the first step would be to return to college to finish my degree which I abandoned when I became pregnant. I took 3 classes per semester. It was tough but I did very well and look forward to the next school year.<br />I believe I also defeated the rats which took up residence in my back yard last year and ate everything I tried to grow. So far I this summer I have lettuce, spinach, green beans, lima beans, cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe, green and yellow zucchini, broccoli, egg plant, red peppers, hot peppers, corn, tomatoes, onions, radishes, and carrots. I also added 2 peach trees, 2 blueberry bushes, black raspberries, and a strawberry fountain to the yard along with they usual mix of herbs.<br />I really have not done much shopping lately except a few things here and there which were free or close to it. My coupon book has suffered from lack of attention while I attended classes and I just have not had the energy to get it back in order. I try to keep up with the websites which help me find the deals but lately we have been living off the land and the over stock I have.<br /><br />Herb garden with green onions, sage, oregano, basil, cilantro, garlic chives, spinach, and lettuce. I just added thyme over the weekend. Something was eating my lettuce. I found one cabbage worn which I smushed then used the pop-up hamper to protect it for a little while. It has come back and no longer needs my protection as of yesterday.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2EmUkpFQkj1yK8aF9ZGpINA7jCIszqkbgmhKx6nl1EE7jBBOBDcb_b0_TDOelzQbUA2pTecHUoQLgpR5ukgoWaBIKnCcjg1c9t_TRfnMd-n8SvQ3pd2-kupge7-kn3yORQnnq-I-DEzo/s1600/herbs.bmp"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2EmUkpFQkj1yK8aF9ZGpINA7jCIszqkbgmhKx6nl1EE7jBBOBDcb_b0_TDOelzQbUA2pTecHUoQLgpR5ukgoWaBIKnCcjg1c9t_TRfnMd-n8SvQ3pd2-kupge7-kn3yORQnnq-I-DEzo/s200/herbs.bmp" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480442019064070930" border="0" /></a>Tomatoes in the self watering container I made:<br /><br /><br /><span style="display: block;" id="formatbar_Buttons"><span class="on" style="display: block;" id="formatbar_Add_Image" title="Add Image" onmouseover="ButtonHoverOn(this);" onmouseout="ButtonHoverOff(this);" onmouseup="addImage();" onmousedown="CheckFormatting(event);;ButtonMouseDown(this);"><img src="http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif" alt="Add Image" class="gl_photo" border="0" /></span></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG39Yy2iCDBbAcUMRD0EHPIQ1V7HjRfsBDEGskD6gRv-9Nei9_TPpclWBqwuEMTlrOLQmMyMJSAGQp0PdMZJ7F-EmdFTlJo-Dzi9Ujw00R-aXwpAbgWccO39gfK_qRQfb6iEVfJwOV-rU/s1600/First+tomatoes.bmp"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG39Yy2iCDBbAcUMRD0EHPIQ1V7HjRfsBDEGskD6gRv-9Nei9_TPpclWBqwuEMTlrOLQmMyMJSAGQp0PdMZJ7F-EmdFTlJo-Dzi9Ujw00R-aXwpAbgWccO39gfK_qRQfb6iEVfJwOV-rU/s200/First+tomatoes.bmp" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480442043340998978" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLQVNhiXnbMjmA4iCwnw9-IwD7BR5ifiMgvsVwvqauliz5QwfVUVX_hyphenhyphenNQYvn_s_79KvFJrLm_5wIPZsCJqYDhkbre9KA4RapUnah1T7xzpiW1t1Dd_BqQ301xDL3fko4SRtunl5gE4Jc/s1600/Tomatoes.bmp"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLQVNhiXnbMjmA4iCwnw9-IwD7BR5ifiMgvsVwvqauliz5QwfVUVX_hyphenhyphenNQYvn_s_79KvFJrLm_5wIPZsCJqYDhkbre9KA4RapUnah1T7xzpiW1t1Dd_BqQ301xDL3fko4SRtunl5gE4Jc/s200/Tomatoes.bmp" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480442770448329458" border="0" /></a><br />Another self watering container with corn, tomatoes in the tire and my mint in the brown planter.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1kSxd0RLopMiQc_txiwRq8Dp_fLiIJAAzVxk6ghTNCehuxERVEBLOnc1MbAmeKtNNG6Dotg7CHMKH8z3FOjQC_NRbsq6N_BZZllb1hLiayJzTQRPuwXFUf3sUzdrdfzEK5dpaf1V1ebk/s1600/Corn+and+mint.bmp"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1kSxd0RLopMiQc_txiwRq8Dp_fLiIJAAzVxk6ghTNCehuxERVEBLOnc1MbAmeKtNNG6Dotg7CHMKH8z3FOjQC_NRbsq6N_BZZllb1hLiayJzTQRPuwXFUf3sUzdrdfzEK5dpaf1V1ebk/s200/Corn+and+mint.bmp" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480442034586952274" border="0" /></a><br />Last years boxes with dirt and compost. I will have to go this week because we are starting to run out of fresh fruit and veggies.<br />One of the doctors that I work for heard a couple of us girls complaining about our increasing weight and waist lines so he proposed a biggest loser competition in the office and even put up a nice incentive. SOOOOO I am in. There are 7 of us in the office trying to live a healthier lifestyle. He has asked his friend, a nutritionist to help us through group and private emails and no one will be voted out this is just a way to help all of us live HEALTHY.<br />We start on Wed and I can't wait. I have regained the 30 lbs I had lost 3 years ago and I am excited to once again have a reason and the support I need to get back into shape. I have to say that my son is already complaining about the healthy food we will be eating but they are both behind me and they don't make fun of me when I workout unlike other family members. I am sure the dogs will really enjoy the extra walks also.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18198891774309422131noreply@blogger.com0
